Ida Wyman

As referenced two weeks ago, Ida was the wife of my last blogged celebrity. Starting as a girl ‘mail-room boy’ at Acme News, she was self-taught, graduating from Brownie to Graphic to Rollei.  Documentary photography finding outlets in Business Week, Life, Fortune, Colliers.  A member of the Photo League in 1946.  Images mainly depicting social life on the streets of New York City - Harlem, Chinatown, lower Manhattan and the Bronx.
Her images reside at: MOMA, the Museum of the City of New York; Museum of Art, Columbus; Museum of Contemporary Art, Madison; Museum of Art, San Jose; and several others.  She has been recognized as one of the top 50 female photographers of the past half century.   87 and still active, living in Wisconsin.    Bill
